Medical escort for home-bound Malaysians from Singapore

When Malaysia imposed Movement Control Order and Singapore with Circuit Breaker, cross borders public transportation was suspended, leaving many Malaysians stranded in Singapore. Pregnant ladies will need to bear high cost of delivering a child and vulnerable groups may need to incur high medical costs if they continue to stay in Singapore.

When there was a call to help, we quickly put together a team to provide basic temperature screening, hand sanitizing and ambulance standby. For 3 rounds, St. John Ambulance of Malaysia (with members who work and also stranded in Singapore), St John Singapore and St. John Responder Unit – SJRU worked together.

#OpsJahitPPE concludes with 754 isolation gowns, 610 head covers and 256 pairs of boot covers

25 volunteer tailors spent over 300 hours to measure, cut and sew PPEs for frontliners. The PPEs were delivered to Hospital Tuanku Jaafar and Pejabat Kesihatan Daerah in Seremban.

Another 300 isolation gowns donated by Toyota Boshoku were also delivered to Hospital Taiping, Perak

St. John Ambulance of Malaysia cannot sustain without your support. SJAM Penang received 1,000 face shields from the northen branch of Malaysia Plastic Manufacturers Association and 10,000 face masks from Guang Ming Daily. SJAM-BSMM collaboration

SJAM Kawasan Pantai Selatan Tengah (KPST) and Bulan Sabit Merah Malaysia Daerah bandaraya Kota Kinabalu (BSMM DBKK) worked together again to handmade and delivered 2,800 face shields and 396 pairs of boot covers to 11 hospitals and clinics in Sabah.

SJAM-SJ Singapore collaboration

This is the second collaboration to provide medical escort for home bound Malaysians who were stranded in Singapore due to Movement Control Order and Circuit Breaker in the respective countries. The travelers include pregnant women who are due to deliver soon, elderly and companions.

Four Malaysians who are SJAM members together with seven St. John Singapore members were on duty along with 2 ambulances.

SJAM Negeri Sembilan today delivered to Hospital Tuanku Ja’afar 300 boot covers, 300 isolation gowns and 300 headscarves. Material sponsored by Fibertex Personal Care Sdn. Bhd. Thanks to over 20 tailors who have diligently measured, cut and sewed the PPEs for hospital frontliners.

Partnership with Toyota Boshoku

Toyota Boshoku is a manufacturer of car seat and automotive interior parts. The factory in Klang turned to manufacture PPEs for frontliners during the spread of COVID19 pandemic.

SJAM partners with Toyota Boshoku and has since delivered 1,500 isolation gowns, 1,500 head covers and 1,000 shoe covers to Pusat Perubatan Universiti Malaya, Klinik Kesihatan Ulu Yam Bahru, Batang Kali and Hospital Teluk Intan, Perak

Yayasan Ekonomi Kewangan Antarabangsa gave isolation suits to Hospital Seri Manjung, Hospital Teluk Intan and Hospital Slim River, delivered by St. John Ambulance of Malaysia, South Area, Perak. 280 suits were reserved for SJAM ambulance crew who are currently on standby at 8 hotspots nationwide

Office closed

The Government of Malaysia issued a Movement Control Order (MCO) effective 18th to 31st March 2020. In compliance with this Order, St. John Ambulance of Malaysia, National Headquarters Administrative Office will be temporarily closed from 18th to 31st March 2020.

Being Prepared

St. John Ambulance of Malaysia (SJAM) has taken precautionary measures since January 2020 which includes awareness and intensified sanitation on all our facilities and vehicles.
